Witney By-Election 20 Oct - Get involved

There's an important Parliamentary by-election coming up this week and there's a lot at stake. The seat is the one recently vacated by the former Prime Minister, David Cameron, so all eyes are on the result.

It's Conference Time!

This weekend sees the start of the Conservative Party Conference in Birmingham. Proceedings officially begin tomorrow (Sunday, 2nd October) and will run through to Wednesday, 5th October.

Choosing a new Prime Minister

The final 2 candidates for the role of Conservative Party Leader have been chosen and the decision will now go to a ballot of the party membership. As our party is governing the country the person we choose automatically becomes the new Prime Minister until the next General Election. Before 1965, leaders of the Conservative Party were not elected, but “emerged” after discussion among Conservative MPs. In 2016, despite there having been previous ballots, this is the first time in the history of the party that the membership have been tasked with choosing a Prime Minister.
