Police & Crime Commissioner Hustings
We are now in the selection phase of our candidate for the PCC elections on 15th November. Hustings have been arranged to select the Conservative candidate.
The hustings give the ownership of the selection of our candidate to our Party’s membership. Only qualified Conservative Party members (ie those with more than 3 months membership) living in the Thames Valley will be entitled to vote. There will be 3 hustings, one in each county, and a Party member from the Thames Valley may attend any of the 3 hustings but may only vote once. Members should arrive about 30 minutes prior to the start of the 3 hustings to allow for registration.
The hustings will be held as follows:
Oxfordshire. Wantage Civic Hall, Portway, Wantage OX12 9BY starting at 7.30pm on Tuesday 19th June 2012. The adjacent car park is thought to be free to park in the evenings.
Berkshire. Blue Mountain Conference and Golf Centre, Wood Lane, Binfield, Berkshire RG42 4EX starting at 2pm on Sunday 24th June 2012. There is ample free parking available and members may use the clubhouse facilities for coffee and drinks beforehand
Bucks. The Gateway Lecture Theatre, Bucks New University, Queen Alexandra Road, High Wycombe, HP11 2JZ starting at 7:30pm
There will be no postal or proxy voting by members. Members must attend one of the hustings and be present for all the speakers prior to voting. The candidates will be interviewed separately by a moderator (Simon Mort) for up to 10 minutes and then there will be a Question and Answer session of up to a further 10 minutes. Members may submit questions to the PAOC that they would wish to see posed to the candidates prior to the hustings.
The voting system will be fully explained at each hustings venue but will be by single transferable voting. The count will take place at the conclusion of the hustings in High Wycombe, with ballot papers from the other 2 hustings brought forward, with the successful candidate being declared that evening.
